Elite Live-in Camps There are two Elite Live-in Camps held at Chevalier College, Bowral, throughout the year. The first camp is held at the start of the program during the Easter school holidays and forms a part of the trial process. The second camp is held at the end of the football season proper in September/October school holidays and allows staff to assess players progression in the program by comparing their performance at the Easter Camp with the results they achieve at the September/October Camp. The live-in camps form an integral part of the development process. The players, some as young as 10, live-in an environment conducive to accelerated learning. The players are engaged in training from 6:30am through to 9:00pm. Over a 4-day camp, players are exposed to up to 24 hours of training. This equates to 6-8 weeks of normal club training. The camp provides an opportunity for coaching staff to both develop and assess the character of each player. Character is a very important aspect of a player and is more important than talent. A player can have natural talent but if his character does not allow self-discipline to develop then this natural talent can be wasted. The camps allow the individual player to become independent and prepares them for travel and being away from home.
